Two Burned in Kerosene Explosion in Lafayette

Lafayette Rape and his wife suffered extensive burns last Friday when a kerosene oil can exploded while handling fuel by a heating stove. Their home sustained severe fire damage. four children, a thirteen year old girl among them, were affected. Neighbors provided aid and about two hundred dollars was raised for relief as Mrs. Rape remained in critical condition.

Albion Emersonian program postponed to Feb 28

School notes report the Albion-Emersonian program delayed and rescheduled for Wednesday evening February 28. Other items note sore throats among high school students, class grade cards received, and various senior, junior, and general activities including a Civics lesson, play planning, and a static electricity experiment for interested students.

Friend Duke Killed at Butler Railroad Crossing

Duke, 21, of Angola and R E McKay, 53, of Bowling Green Ohio, traveling salesman, were killed instantly when their Ford car stalled on a Butler crossing. They stepped into the track to reach Wa bash station and were struck by an east bound New York Central express, the car thrown about 100 feet. Duke had worked in Angola recently and was nephew of Mrs Charles Shank.

Suffering Cats at Chelsea Piers During the War

Cats from nations have gathered along the Chelsea piers from West Fourteenth to Twenty-third Street since the war began. They roam in bands of fifteen to twenty and feed on beneath prunes and raw rubber, enabling swift night prowling for prey.
