Windy Beitz and Galloway Sentenced in Carterville Riot Case

In Springfield on September 20, United States Circuit Judge Tudge Allen jailed six months for Windy Beitz, William Canseler, and James Galloway, leaders of Carterville mine strikes. Beitz alleged alibi for telephoning a warning before a train attack that killed a black woman. Galloway testified about the call. Canseler faced intimidation charges against non union miners with warnings of bloodshed. testimony described threats to non union workers. Other trial updates include continued cases against Roy Bowman and Zeke Morgan for assault and contempt, postponed to Cairo next month.
