Judge Baume rendered a decision in the circuit court finding the transfer of the property from Frederic Bartlett to his wife legal, securing the home for Isabel Bartlett unless the case is reversed on appeal. East Freeport resident Kanke faced a near fatal morning when his wagonload of corn husks crossed Stephenson street at S C tracks. To avoid one engine he backed into the other, the two engines striking the wagon and breaking wheels and shafts. The horse bolted and escaped unharmed, while the driver was lowered between tracks and escaped with minor injuries.

A meeting of manufacturers and business leaders in Rockford, Illinois, formed a committee to invite mayors of Rock River valley cities to a convention in Rockford to urge government action to convert Rock River into a canal from Rockford to join the Hennepin Canal. The convention, likely in late October, has Congressman Hitt’s backing. Estimated cost is $1,000,000. surveys from years past may be used. Captain Wheeler, Hennepin Canal directing engineer, plans to attend.
Embury Methodist Sunday school members host a pumpkin pie sociable Wednesday night at Walter Spitler’s home. All friends of the school are invited. Transportation leaves the church at 7 and 7:30.

A Freeport group returning from Pike Lake Wisconsin arrived Friday with a sizable fish and game catch. Joe Hettinger claimed the largest muskalonge at 14 pounds while Joe Hall landed a 1 24 pound fish.
