J B Stearns of Belle Plaine Minnesota reports a friend with a hand wound swelling like blood poison was treated with Bucklen’s Arnica Salve. The salve drew out the poison healed the wound and saved his life. The ad claims it is best for burns and sores and sells for 26 cents at Joseph Emmert’s drug store.

Chicago police and detectives failed to cap ture the slayer of Miss Maude Reese, who was killed Tuesday at 200 Evanston Avenue. Mrs. Milton Baumgartner of Freeport, present during the shooting, made an informal statement as the inquest adjourned to December 2. Police report wrong leads and poor crews hampered the hunt, with only one suspect, Frank Zochla, briefly held before release. The inquest resumed at 2 PM at 1615 North Clark Street as officers plan further steps to identify the killer through Mrs. Baumgartner’s potential voice recognition.
Coroner W B Peck presided at an inquest into the death of Theodore Bassler. Jurors G B Frazier, George A Janssen, Daniel A Kreamer, Linford C Marvill, Charles Geib and Charles R Kerlin heard witness testimony from Mrs. Caroline Bassler and others. The verdict: death by natural causes occurring between 11 p m Nov 21 and 7 30 am the following morning.
Alfred Kinley about 37 was in county court as mental condition was inquired into. He faced charges of writing letters to a prominent businessman's daughter and speaking to her without acquaintance. Humane society prosecutor B. F. Brubaker warned him to stop, Kinley promised, but continued. Kinley claimed not to recall writing the letters. Constable Otto Kieckhoefer testified Kinley showed a $25 ring and spoke of wedding plans. Kinley, said to work at the Stover shops with $900 in a State Bank account, had spent months in hallways on Stephenson Street speaking to strangers. Jury found him not guilty, ruling no insanity warranting an asylum.
Chicago traveler J. W. Grinberger reports a diamond ring stolen from his pocket at the Senate hotel. Samuel Aue, suspected for days, was arrested after a hotel handkerchief recovery exposed the ring, with officers expecting a full confession and a preliminary hearing tomorrow.
