Chicago university football players refuse a health department vaccination order. The commissioner of health warned arrests may follow as two students were taken with smallpox today.
Associated Press reports Archie Venuto of Fremont Nebraska died after attempting a four day peanut only diet that led to insanity. He had planned to live solely on peanuts but collapsed after a week.
Today's market wrap lists closing board of trade quotes with Dec wheat at 9 41/4, Dec corn 6 734, Dec oats 4 774, Jan pork 18 26, Jan ribs 8 15, Jan lard 7 12. At Union Stock Yards cattle 83 000, ten lower. cows 1.25 to 5.00. stockers feeders 2.30 to 4.45. hogs 18 000, steady. light 4 85 to 5 45. mixed 4 90 to 5 60. bulk sales 5 10 to .25. sheep 35 000, weak 10 lower, 2 40 to 5 20.
At about 2 pm the Clifton hotel bus team panicked on lower Stephenson street. The driver stayed in control and steered past Soley street and Exchange street back toward the hotel. A single passenger stood at the rear step ready to exit, and a small dog aboard jumped out after the rig rolled past Chicago street.

Thompson Wilcoxon Cockrell longtime Stephenson County resident and flour mill owner died at St Francis hospital after a yearlong illness. Born September 11 1838 in Newport Ohio he moved here in 1842 and built the Scioto Mills flour mill and a nearby saw mill. He never married and left immense land holdings. funeral Tuesday at 1 PM from Scioto Mills home with burial at Fairview cemetery. His death follows strokes and a long decline. Mother dead in Pennsylvania informs Prof J J Nagle News notes death of Cockrell’s mother and other local items.
In New Orleans on November 11 AP reports Col Chalaron says Mrs Jefferson Davis left letters with Memorial Hall and will open packages under daughter’s authority. Cun ningham of the Confederate Veteran says the Grant Thomas and Farragut commission claim is erroneous and a correction will appear in the December Veteran.

The Swan company, piano and organ makers, are busy with orders as many former workers return to positions. Fred Hagemann and Axel Estine, previously at Elgin, rejoin the organ factory west of the city. D E Swan departs today for Milwaukee and Detroit to further company interests.

A home of Frank Blackschlagel on upper Stephenson street burned, interior and furniture destroyed after a two hour effort by West Freeport firemen. The blaze, origin unknown, caused about 3600 in damage, with insurance covering losses. Firefighter action focused on saving the building. A separate small blaze at Harnish cigar store was extinguished by a clerk using water.
Miss Rosa FE Wollrath a Dakota college music teacher and cast member sang at the Epworth League service of the First M E church last evening Her singing was praised for its sympathetic interpretation birdlike lightness and buoyant ease Those who heard her were delighted and hope to hear her again soon
The funeral of the late John Wareham was held this afternoon at 20 o'clock from the home on Walnut Street. Rev. Mr. Groff officiated and interment was at Oakland Cemetery. W. A. Snooks had charge of the arrangements and pallbearers included H. W. Stebbins, J. H. Galloway, James Kramer, C. Washburn, George Swartz, and Orin Cook.
A. K. Stibgen of Freeport, a hardware store worker, fell seriously ill this morning while on duty at Freeport Hardware. He was brought to his home at 240 Galena Street and, by afternoon, was slightly improved.
The Ladies Aid society of Em bury church will hold their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday p m at the home of Mrs S E Stahl 231 West Streent A cordial invitation is extended to all the ladies to be present Refreshments will be served.
Members of the Democratic club met Sunday evening to organize the arrival of William J. Bryan in Freeport on December 6. Complete arrangements are to be announced later.
Walter Grattelo, son of Joseph Grattelo, was taken to St Francis hospital Saturday with typhoid fever. Helis reported some improvement today.

This afternoon in Justice Goddard's court A J Goddard forfeited his bond of 3300 due to his nonappearance in the case filed by Freeport Water Company.
