The forecast calls for fair weather tonight and Sunday in Illinois, with cooler temperatures. In Iowa, generally fair conditions are expected tonight and Sunday, with colder air moving in tonight.
President Roosevelt met with Samuel Gompers and AFL executive council members to discuss legislation for the forthcoming congressional session. Gompers declined to disclose any promises and called the interview satisfactory.
Prescott Arizona November 9 Robert Mather general counsel of the Rock Island system told an Associated Press representative he emphatically endorses President Roosevelt s policies toward state regulation of railroads.
Cambridge November 9 Indians lead Harvard 12 to 10 at halftime. At West Point the score reads Cornell 6 Army 4 after the first fifteen minutes of play.
Master Mechanic McKillop ordered a reduction to the staffing level of a year ago, reducing the car department by twenty five. The layoff takes effect this evening as extra men hired this year leave the books while overall shop headcount remains higher than November last year.
A well attended card and sewing party held yesterday afternoon at St Pius hall raised funds for the St Vincent orphanage. Prizes at cards went to Mrs Southwick Mrs William Wilson and Mrs Henry Rotzler while sewing table honors were won by Mrs Hunt Mrs M Scheidt and Mrs George Schmich.
Last evening a reception at Center Street School drew about five hundred attendees. Visitors inspected pupil work and praised progress under Miss Edith Voigt, the school’s principal. Music was provided by the Childrens' Mandolin Club.
Patrick J. Wilson, an experienced saloon man, has secured control of the former Roys place at Adams and Stephenson streets and will install a new fixtures. He expects to open for business between December 1 and 10.

Edward Curtin known as Bo Curtin, longtime Illinois Central conductor, was taken off duty after a scheme involving tickets stolen by flagman I. H. Smith and a night agent in Dubuque, in which tickets were illicitly sold. Curtin alleges betrayal by the flagman and expects a temporary withdrawal as criminal charges loom.
Eastern Star members will assemble Monday at 7 30 p m with a program planned. King’s Daughters Ministering Circle meets Monday at 2 30 p m with Miss Alice Steen rad, 215 Stephenson street, to prepare for work. Pecatonica News notes Mrs William McLees shipped household goods to Columbus Ohio last evening en route to reside there. Rockford Interurban reports 923 baggage pieces carried in October plus go carts baby carriages and washings on city cars.
Marriage license notice lists Andrew A. Anderson of Freeport and Lillian Achenbaugh of Freeport, both aged 23 and 20 respectively, as the parties.
An 19th century ad claims appendicitis results from bowel abuse and prescribes Dr King’s New Life Pills as safe gentle cleansers and tonics. It advertises a cure for headache biliousness malaria and jaundice and lists Joseph Winmert's drug store price at 26 cents.

Rockford resident Robert Rew spent the day in Freeport while Mt. Carroll’s A. R. Bowman called on friends there. Streator’s John Raeside was a business caller in Freeport today. Clifton hotel’s Mr. Goble plans Sunday with Savanna’s C. Brock. Chadwick’s J. H. Patterson and W. F. Mead visited Freeport as guests of friends. Dr. Jas Jones, from Chicago, joins Dr. Rideout for several months. M. J. Howe and mother Mrs. B. Howe depart for Verona Iowa for winter. Mrs. J. A. Clark Mrs. H. D. Bentley and Mrs. P. O. Silver head to Vicksburg Miss for the King’s Daughters national meeting. Bentley also goes to New Orleans. Rev. O. R. Newcomb, formerly Cedarville, now Middle Creek Presbyterian pastor in Winnebago county, was in Freeport today. his congregation builds a parsonage and he will move with family to Middle Creek late November.
Grace church St. Catherine's guild will host a Thursday supper at Mrs. George Dollmeyer's home from six to eight. Menu includes prime roast beef, mashed potatoes, cabbage salad, bread and butter, pickles, apple pie, cheese, and coffee. Attendees give an offering based on generosity, with no stated charge.
Sheriff Collier of Rockford hunted for James G. Dorrence who broke jail in Freeport yesterday afternoon as he was to be moved to the courtroom. Collier returned to Rockford this afternoon empty handed, without the prisoner.
Beginning tomorrow the afternoon train formerly leaving Northwestern at 4 o clock will depart at 3 50 and reach Chicago at 7 50. Additional changes will be announced Monday.

Having purchased Frank Knautt's bakery on upper Stephenson street, I will conduct a strictly home baking establishment. I will deliver to all parts of the city, orders to be received by a phone or otherwise. Grand opening on Saturday.
The town board will hold a regular meeting in the Bisa Board Anne Building on November Boa. Members are asked to present any bills against the town for auditing. Submit by the stated time and bring required documents for review.
Mr and Mrs A W Sheetz of Florence township observed their silver wedding anniversary with a gathering of about eighty five friends at their Freeport home. The couple married November 8 1882 and have six children Harvey Homer Roscoe Wither Warren and Vernon. The event featured a feast and toasts praising their lifelong devotion and community standing.
Miss Helen Oblander hosted her aprons 4 school class at her parents home to celebrate her thirteenth birthday. Guests enjoyed games and a delightful supper after the party.
Nancy Pattison six years old today daughter of Mr and Mrs Douglas Pattison. Thirty six of her little friends were invited to spend the afternoon at the Grove street Pattison home. They enjoyed games and a choice luncheon during the celebration.
Mrs Wm A GC Dunham announces the engagement of her sister Miss Helen Miller to Arthur FB Steffen with the marriage planned for the latter part of November.
Miss Lillian Avchenbauch wed Andrew A Anderson this afternoon at the First Methodist Church parsonage in a ceremony conducted by Rev. C W McCaskill.
