Advertisement asserts lumber is used for all purposes by top builders in town and country. It boasts good grades, well seasoned, and sold under cover to prevent warping from rain and sun. It invites customers not already using their product to switch for better palisfactory lumice.

Bongye and Schwarz advertises the largest selection of wallpaper and room mouldings with sample books from 25 cents up. They claim exclusive control of the entire line in the city and offer hanging, caulking, interior decorating, house and sign painting, and sales of paints, oils, and glass at 109 Galena Street.

Rebels prepare for battle at Malabon in Manila war report

Mania March 23 dispatch says Spanish prisoners who escaped to the Kansas regiment report Filipino forces massed at Malabon and Polo with Aguinaldo's bodyguard at Malolos. Rebels expect a fight yesterday and plan to disperse to mountains if defeated. Bolos outnumber rifles and food and hospital shortages are noted. Washington reports Otis aims to crush Aguinaldo's army within a week to ten days with a combined land and sea operation using thirteen former Spanish gunboats. A brigade will be landed north of Manila to cut escape routes, Lagunade Bay ships will block east, Manila Bay west flank closes, and Pasig River forces seal the south.

Sherman moved aboard Chicago after Paris transfer

John Sherman was moved from the steamer Paris to the cruiser Chicago in prepared quarters. He rested well overnight and woke cheerful. He was carried on a stretcher to a boat lowered from the Paris, towed by a steam launch, and hoisted aboard the Chicago in the same manner.

Fire in Memrus boarding house claims four lives

Memrus Tenn March 24 Special At a fire in Mrs Nolan's boarding house early today four people died and several were seriously injured The dead include Mrs Chapin her ten year old son Roy Chapin aged four and a man named Smith It was the second blaze in the same building that night and investigators think the earlier fire had not been fully extinguished.

Fire wipes out two plants in Cleveland with 350000 loss

In Cieypuann March 24 special report the japanning department of the Dangler stove and manufacturing plant and the Cleveland machine screw company burned this morning. Lieut. Roth of the fire department was buried under falling walls and later recovered dead, badly crushed and burned. About seven hundred workers were left unemployed by the blaze.

In New York on March 24 special report says two hundred laborers haul debris from the Windsor hotel ruins. Forenoon finds include bones wearing corset steels suggesting a woman and likely a hotel servant among the deceased.

Widow sues Modern Woodmen for insurance money

Emma Shaw of Plainsfield Ohio sues the Modern Woodmen of America in the circuit court for 3000 in life insurance on her husband Louis Shaw who died from injuries in 1895. Shaw had applied for membership and a 3000 policy was prepared before his death though he was not formally initiated. The case may go to the supreme court if the verdict favors the plaintiff.

Billeg Sells Half Interest to Form Billeg Thompson Firm

Belmond Iowa report states H J Billeg trades half his dry goods and notions stock for a Des Moines area farm. The new Billeg Thompson company will add groceries soon, and Billeg will return to the S C railroad line between Dubuque and Chicago.

Funeral Held For Mrs Jacob Folgate At Cedar Ville

The funeral for Mrs Jacob Folgate took place this morning at the family home on Spring Street and later at the Evangelical church in Cedar Ville. Interment followed in Zion Cemetery located in Buckeye Township.

Wholesale Lynching Report From Little River Area

Texarkana Ark March 24 Special The slow flow of details on a wholesale lynching in Little River continues. Three more Black men found in river bottoms near Rocky Comfort two hanged or shot to death named Joe King Moses Jones. Third body naked. Justice of the peace inquests conclude deaths from natural causes or freezing. Reports vary but no certainty about total fatalities. A colored man from Winton says more Black people were killed than reported.

Funeral of Princess Kaisland in Honolulu News

Dorio from the orient via Honolulu reports the largest Honolulu funeral on March 15 attended by many nations. A hearse was drawn by 250 Hawaiians, with the Second battalion US volunteer engineers in attendance. About 25,000 people joined the procession or watched the event. Reverend H J Parker delivered the Hawaiian language address.

Bryan Arrives in Mesriuis for Public Reception

Wm J Bryan landed in Mesriuis on March 24 and was greeted by a committee. He attended a public reception at the hotel and, in the evening, delivered a lecture under the Nineteenth Century club before departing for Little Rock.
