Waterbury Conn March 8 Special After a lapse of nearly seventy five years the town of Canterbury plans to honor Prudence Crandall the educator jailed for admitting colored girls to her academy in 1832 The town will erect a pedestal memorial marking the seventy fourth anniversary of her condemnation and departure to Kansas where she died ten years ago Regulatory forces and local figures are cited in the historical note of her stand for colored education.
