Coal operators refuse miners' postponement at meeting

In Prrissera 800 coal operators met and denied a miners request to delay a joint meeting. United Mine Workers elected officers with John Mitchell of Tudiana as president and W. C. Pearce of Indianapolis as secretary and treasurer. A rising vote praised Gov. Tanner for his actions during the Virden and Pana strikes.

Stone and Gobin inaugurated as Pennsylvania governors

Harrissura January 17 Special. Col. William A. Stone was today inaugurated governor of Pennsylvania and Gen. John P. S. Gobin was inducted as lieutenant governor. The inaugural procession was one of the most imposing ever seen at Harrisburg.
