Dam Collapse Threatens Wilson Avenue Bridge and Mills
Carevetann, O., Jan. 18 Special. A section of the dam under the Wilson avenue bridge failed this morning, sparing thirty workmen by a narrow margin. The backed water stretches a mile and a half, hundreds of feet wide and 25 to 30 feet deep, with embankments melting into the flood. The raging torrent has damaged mills and plants on the flats below, including Standard Oil, Cleveland Paper, and Flick slaughter houses, and the Wilson avenue bridge is likely a total loss.
