Dingley Funeral Honored President and Cabinet Attend

Washington January 16 special report describes Nelson Dingley's state funeral as majestic in its impressiveness. The president, cabinet, diplomatic corps, supreme court members and military and civil figures attended. Oldest Settler Patrick Kauffman Dies at Lena

Patrick Kauffman died at Lena at about 6 this morning. Born June 5, 1827, in Virginia, he and brother Thomas were among Stephenson county’s first white settlers. He farmed near Lena, then ran grain and stock business, owning 280 acres. He married Phebe Clark in 1854 and had three children. He belonged to Lutheran church, Blue Lodge, and Freeport Commandery. active in business and Masonic circles. Funeral plans closedown business houses in respect.
