Sheriff Collier of Rockford escorted two Brown building burglars back from Joliet. On arrival at Western Avenue station, Everett escaped from the train while Williams was prevented by a passenger. The capture was expected at Joliet with Western avenue the usual transfer point.
The German bank elected C. Collmann as president and J. S. Collmann as vice president. D. F. Graham was named cashier with L. R. Jungkans as assistant cashier. A. F. Schulte and Edwin H. Selle appointed bookkeepers with Raymond Kennedy as assistant messenger. The bank, incorporated in 184, traces roots to 1876 private operation and plans a mahogany and marble interior upgrade including a tiled door.

Emily Van Matre of Freeport and Bur ton L. Figeley of Freeport wed at the First M E church parsonage after his return from San Francisco where he aided victims after the 1906 earthquake. Figeley, a former Standard Oil worker and Pacific Portland Cement cashier, helped guard looters, aided the injured, and recovered meat from a looted butcher shop amid the fires. The couple plans a Chicago honeymoon then residence in Chamberlain South Dakota before returning to Freeport.
In Freeport circles a prominent Masonic figure known for deep involvement from Blue Lodge to Consistory is also linked with the Biks. The reference highlights ongoing community influence and associative roles within local fraternal groups.
Edward Martin turned eighty and received a surprise party from his children. He lives in Harlem with his son Edward, while children John of Red Oak and several daughters from Cedarville Frespart and Dakota attended along with relatives in Chicago Lincoln Neb and Afalkey. The gathering was described as very pleasant and all children were present.
A wedding was held at Emnbury Methodist parsonage at 117 South Galena avenue on Tuesday January 1 with Walter L Krell of Pearl City marrying Mae M MeclLenahan of Pearl City. Rev KE MokKay officiated with Rev W W Liston assisting. The couple will reside in Pearl City after February 1 with many friends sending best wishes.
A large crowd attended the Ladies Auxiliary to the B. of K. K. T. event at the Odd Fellows hall yesterday afternoon. Prizes went to Mrs. Ed Scanlan and Mrs. Lena Stack, with a new lottery twist awarding the winning number drawn after the card rounds. Mrs. John Martin drew the right number.
The Jewel Birthday club met yesterday afternoon at Grandma Brownlee's home on Clark Avenue. A program was rendered, a nice supper was served, and Mrs. Brownlee received a fine tablecloth. Six new members were admitted, bringing total membership to eighteen.
The fifth annual ball of the International Brotherhood of Blacksmiths and Helpers' Union No. 22 will be held on Thursday evening January 17 at E. A. Blust's hall. There will be cards and dancing with music by Harris' complete orchestra.
The Ladies' auxiliary No 182 of the B. of L. E. will hold an after noon card party tomorrow starting at 2:30 PM.
Mrs. William Barr of South Street near Walnut died at 2 30 this morning after a long illness and pneumonia. Born May 11, 1892 in Center County, Pa, she came west with her family in the early years and settled here. A longtime Trinity church member, she leaves three children AB Fr Spitler and Mrs. E D Allington of this city and Mrs P V Snow of Fort Worth, Texas, plus grandchildren. Funeral plans await the arrival of relatives.
John Frei died at his parents home in Silver Creek township yesterday afternoon after a three month illness of lung and heart trouble. Born July 2, 1888, he attended local country schools and was a favorite among neighbors. Survived by his parents, sisters Mrs W Iry of Evarts and Alma, and brother George. Funeral Sunday at 10 from his parents home, then to Refouged church at Buiesville and Stone church cemetery. Rev B E Thorrgan officiating. pallbearers include Hl Cruis E Schuorhoven John Johnson Ed Ruesenbers George and G Wiechman.
