Illlinois Central Employee Albert Wicks Dies at 77
Albert S. Wicks a long time Illinois Central baggageman and brakeman died at his home 102 Douglas avenue after throat growth and heart trouble. Born April 22 1858 in Kansas Illinois he served the railroad from 1879 until October last in Decatur Amboy Freeport and Chicago areas. Survived by widow and three children Gladys Frank Ruth, with funeral at his Douglas avenue home then interment in Decatur. He was active in Masons Eastern Star Modern Woodmen and Methodist Episcopal church.

Winnebago County Pioneer Thomas W. Derwent Dies at 7 AM
Thomas W. Derwent a Winnebago County resident since 1842 died at his home 1215 West State Rockford at 7 o clock Tuesday morning. Born May 22 1832 in Dutton field England he came to America at age nine aboard a four week voyage. His family traveled from the east to Rockford and then to Winnebago County. His father died in 1847 after which Thomas assumed farm management duties. He was an uncle of T J Derwent and a Mason in the Freeport Consistory.
