In Chattanooga Tennessee today August 17 special report says over 10000 troops were reviewed by General Breckinridge. The parade was described as one of the year’s most striking events with the troops cheered along the line of march.

Nashville Tenn Aug 17 Special The Republican state convention met today to nominate candidates for governor and three railroad commissioners Walter Brown Low is permanent chairman The convention will nominate Hon S W Hawkins for governor The platform will endorse President McKinley and his administration.
George Ennett, 37, shot and killed his sister Anna Ennett, 35, at the North Second street home, then shot himself with a shotgun. Witnesses say he had been ill and withdrawn. motive undetermined. The Ennett family, once respected, faced a long illness in the household.
The Galena Grant Memorial association held its annual election with Dr. B. F. Fowler named president and Thomas E. Moore as vice president. Paul Kerr is secretary and Thomas Z. Barry treasurer. Executive committee includes M. J. Burns F. P. Stillman William Rippin Rev. E. A. Orr and Jacob J. Eulberg.
