In San Francisco transports Lakeme and Charles G. Nelson carried five companies of the First New York volunteers and the Second United States volunteer engineers to Honolulu.
The North American Trust company has opened a branch in Santiago. The announcement notes the expansion from its Cuba New York base as of August 6.
St Louis correspondent reports J M Carson former president of the United Mine Workers of Illinois enlisted today in the Sixth Missouri volunteers in a special dispatch from St Louis Missouri indicating a wartime mobilization move with military service expected from a prominent labor leader.
On August 6 the New York financial report shows reserves down 2 011 475 dollars while loans rise 12 783 100 dollars and deposits grow 15 371 500 dollars. Specie increases 2 482 900 and circulation falls 18 300, with legals decreasing 651 500.
Two men severely burned when a Robinson & Love steam thresher on a bridge two miles south of Sycamore Illinois toppled into a stream after the bridge gave way. William Townsend suffered burns from the waist down while Frank Howard sustained severe scalds and a back injury. Both men were rescued and listed in critical condition.
