Attacked a Workman Near Birranton and Woodside
Max Geisel a 60 year old Birranton resident and former M. and M Institute janitor was struck by a intoxicated youth near Drifton and Woodside schoolhouse on the way to work. Geisel sustained a painful wound under the left eye as the assailant fled the region. A First regiment battalion paraded through Freeland posting a six language proclamation offering protection to workers and warning others to keep the peace.

Death of Mrs Christina Stark in Freeland
Mrs Christina Stark widow of Henry Stark died at 1 20 this morning at her home on Birkbeck street of cancer after six months illness. Born in Germany in 1851 she came to the United States at twenty two and lived with her brother in Highland before marrying in 1873. She leaves two sons Henry of Freeland and William of Archbald. Funeral at 2 pm Wednesday at home with Rev J J Kuntz officiating. burial beside her husband in Freeland cemetery.

Automobile Accident on Centre Street In Front of Central Hotel
R E Meyer superintendent of the Electric Light Company, and James A Christy were thrown from a car when its front axle broke on Centre street in front of the Central hotel at 7 o clock. Both escaped serious injury though the crash could have been grave if the speed had been higher. Meyer had checked the car and found no defects before leaving.
