Army Deserter John Rhoda Arrested in Upper Lehigh
John Rhoda, a young man from Upper Lehigh, was arrested yesterday at his home by Officer John Molik on charges of desertion from the United States Army. He was brought to Freeland, jailed, then escorted to Fort DuPont, Delaware. Rhoda allegedly enlisted in the artillery at Pottsville last May and deserted in July, two months later. Molik had waited two weeks for a capture and will receive the government reward of 30 dollars plus expenses.
