Thanksgiving Day prompts a winter outfit appeal with warm outerwear offered for men youths and boys in a range of styles and cuts. The ad promises handsome garments to save time money and nerve strain by shopping here for the outfit.
At a Grand Opera House gathering Local Union No. 1519 U M W of A unanimously pledged to refuse the company reply and not return to work until all Coxe Bros. & Co. and D S & B Railroad employees are rehired. The vote followed reading of Superintendent Smiths reply and named lists of men not to be reemployed across Drifton Derringer Gowen Oneida Eckley Beaver Meadow and other areas totaling 447.
Joseph Palewicz, Shenandoah butcher, was acquitted after a two week trial in Pottsville for the murder of Deputy Sheriff Joseph Beddall during the Shenandoah riot on July 31. Spectators cheered as the verdict was read. one man faced jail for contempt. Beddall, a merchant and cousin of Sheriff H. R. Beddall, helped spark the riot that brought state troops to Shenandoah’s business district.

Three physicians testified before the arbitration commission on the health of mine workers in Scranton and Wilkesbarre saying the occupation is very unhealthful and shortens life. They reported 95 percent anemia among miners and common ailments such as asthma rheumatism lumbago and sciatica from coal dust and toxic air.
