Charles Stafford, fifth death linked to the South Wilkes Barre shaft blast, died at home in Wilkesbarre after injuries from powder keg explosions. Survived by his wife and four children, he was long a resident of Upper Lehigh, born to George Stafford and grandson of Joseph Stafford. Funeral held Saturday at the county seat.
Detective John O Connor of Potts town captured John Motsko the fugitive alleged murderer from Montgomery county at Schuylkill Haven Saturday evening. Motsko is accused of killing George Miller at the Stanley G Flag Company works in Pottstown on November 4. A $250 reward was offered. Motsko eluded pursuers and was last seen three weeks earlier in Dilfton seeking work before moving to Schuylkill County where he was captured.
President Thomas Duffy and National Board Member Peter G Gallagher of District No 7 are summoned from Scranton. Coxe Bros. & Co. allegedly violate the reinstatement agreement by denying rehires for workers active during the strike. A mass meeting is planned Wednesday night and the district executive board may be asked to act.
