At an Executive Committee meeting in Interlaken Stuart Cooper named Robert Raney chairman of the 1969 drive for funds. Drive dates are set for October 15 to 29 with a pledge note urging local workers in Ithaca Willard and Sampsons to designate a portion of their United Fund gifts to the Interlaken Community Chest.

Special day to benefit field lights at Trumansburg
On Saturday October 4 at the Trumansburg Fair Grounds the Alumni Association Community Council and the Varsity Club stage an all day auction to raise funds for new football field lights. Auctioneers Paul Landon and Garth Jackson lead the event with tables for browers and a cake wheel. Hot coffee hamburgers and hot dogs served 10:30 to noon. A chicken barbecue begins at 3 PM. At a Chamber of Commerce meeting in Trumansburg at Gregorys Restaurant members revised listings for the New York State vacation lands and Finger Lakes guide of 1970. The group voted to pay 25 for Finger Lakes Association membership 50 for Camp Barton development fund and 60 for Tausiannock Garden Club. John Peck and Diane Wald were appointed to help revise the Trumansburg brochure. Office of Economic Opportunity support limited to Information Booth in July and August. Farm Firefighting Efforts Hit Interlaken Area
Interlaken Fire Department has fought multiple rural blazes this week. They stopped a grass fire at Bill Hill farm before it reached a woodland area and responded to Harold Ball farm on Halls Corners Road where an overheated motor ignited chaff in a hay harvesting machine. Damage to the machine owned by James Wilkins is not yet estimated. About a week earlier they answered a hay fire at the Updike farm.

Romulus Supervisor Candidate Declines Nomination
Willard Raymond Zajac, nominated at the August 26 Democratic caucus for Romulus Town Supervisor, declines to accept the nomination citing insufficient time due to business and family commitments. He says future circumstances might allow a run and notes he values meeting voters and serving the town. No decision yet on filling the vacancy.

Lodi Supervisor Race Rematch In 1967 Rematch
Nearly 100 Republicans met at the Masonic Temple on September 3 renominating incumbent Alfred Ahouse to face Democrat Ed ward McGuire in the rematch of the 1967 Lodi supervisor race. Also renominated were Highway Superintendent Richard McCheyne and Councilman Robert Voorhees. Voorhees beat Roy Shepherd 67 to 30 for council, William Gates won justice of the peace with 62 votes to Holmberg's 31, and incumbents Lois Jennings Charles Farr Wilfred Grove Richard McCheyne Mildred Beach were renominated. Mrs Beach had been endorsed by Democrats. Don McIntosh chaired the caucus. tellers were Art Burdin William Wagner Francis Hurd. The vacancy committee includes Lois Jennings Frank Halsey and Donald McIntosh.

Trumansburg Board Sees Bids For Water Truck
At the September village meeting bids for a four wheel drive water department truck were opened with Newport Chevrolet offering 2962.63 and Trumansburg Motors 3056.32. no action taken. Justice Haight reported 114 cases with 826 in fines from April to August. A Salo Drive petition asked for a deadend sign due to heavy traffic. Clinton Maron received a War Act approval. Small Business Administration offered the Allen property for 25070, no action. Tom Cheney's request for the village attorney to attend hearing was approved. Cheney resigned as zoning board chair. Mayor Newport praised him. no replacement yet. Budget officer Gleason and clerk Decker to attend a Lake Placid training Oct 8–10.

The Ovid Town Board held a routine September meeting at the Town Building with bills audited and paid. Town Clerk Mary Everts reported August receipts including 700 to County Treasurer for two licenses 92.50 to County Clerk for fishing licenses and 17 for hunting licenses. A 250 remittance to the Dept of Health Albany covered five marriage licenses plus 21.25 to the Supervisor and 31 in a supplemental report. The next board meeting is set for Wednesday in October.
