TRUMANSBURG The Town of Ulysses United Fund Campaign misses its $4335 target by 917 dollars with $3418 raised so far. Residents without pledges are urged to contribute via Tompkins County United Fund, 313 North Aurora St Ithaca NY 14850 or to Ed Husted or Tom Smith. Some contributors may join a supplementary $10 share.
In TRUMANSBURG and Lodi community notices announce meetings on Monday November 29 at 7 30 p m in Ulysses Town Hall and 8 p m in Lodi Administration building CISS plans to discuss school district problems and priorites The Trumansburg Fair Association holds its annual meeting on Saturday December 4 at 8 p m in the new fair office building at the fair grounds 4712
TRUMANSBURG The Department of Vegetable Crops at Cornell held its annual Shit Night dinner at the American Legion in Trumansburg Friday. Guest of honor was Mrs Olive Wilkinson of Burdick Hill Road Ithaca who retired November 19 after 30 years as secretary in the department. A cake shaped like a typewriter was a surprise for Mrs Wilkinson.
Chief Taughannock Chapter DAR met at the Reformed Church in Interlaken on Tuesday November 16 with 18 members and 2 guests. Arnold Barben of Seneca Falls spoke on Transportation on New York State canals using slides and an exhibit of historic navigational tools. The group noted horse and mule towpaths and safety devices like a whiffle-tree to prevent towlines from snagging. Miss Susan Lewis received the DAR Good Citizen Award. The next meeting is December 14 at 12:00 at the Presbyterian Chapel with a Christmas program and refreshments planned.
TRUMANSBURG Post 770 of the American Legion honored its World War I Veterans Saturday at a dinner dance celebration. Dennis Messler received his 50 year membership pin. Veterans in attendance included Maurice Clarke Max Furman Joseph Hospel Leon VanDemark George Nadge Charles Rose Fred Van Nedergnen George Lounseberg Dennis Mess ler Herman Brown Mary Glenn Thall. Visiting from Post 221 were Fred Hartsock and Bill Tallmadge.
Ovid Federated Church hosts Home Economics and Consumer Projects on December 2 and 7 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. William Niles 4-H Agent will present a film with Grace Munn on Christmas refreshment ideas, Claribel Fish to instruct on decorations and gift wrapping. Bring Christmas paper and ribbon for December 2.
The Trumansburg PTA hosts a two day sale of used toys and sporting goods at the elementary school gym starting Friday December 3 at 3 p.m. Donations and consignments are accepted at multiple collection points including residents in Mecklenburg Perry City Jacksonville and village areas. Featured displays include Vincent Campbell's handmade wooden games and Ozzie Heila's cross country ski booth with lessons available. Proceeds benefit the PTA scholarship fund with additional contact via Sylvia Williams at 273-9035.
At American Legion Post 462 Interlaken a recognition event honors Dan Thayer and Arthur Warner on Saturday December 4 at 7 00 pm. Tickets for the standing rib roast dinner and program are sold by Legion members.
