Plans for a Regional Red Cross Bloodmobile visit set for Tuesday June 17 at the Ovid Municipal Building from 2 to 6 PM. Coordinator Veronica Maher reports strong donor pre register response and a goal of one hundred pints with many volunteers and associated organizations organizing efforts.

Trumansburg Central School District Budget Hearing and Elections

The Trumansburg Central School District schedules its annual meeting at 7 30 p m July 8 in the High School Auditorium to explain the budget and vote on two buses and BOCES space for three Special Education classes. District voting runs July 9 from 2 p m to 8 p m. three Board seats open with incumbents Parke and Huckle seeking reelection.

Counseling by computer at Interlaken High School

Interlaken High School tested an experimental one day counseling link with Interactive Learning Systems Computer from Boston. The program, sponsored by BOCES, could join future guidance services if deemed satisfactory. It allows rapid search of college material from over 2,000 U.S. colleges and answers on majors costs admissions aid.

Fire Police Seek Cooperation for Carnival Parade

Interlaken Fire Police request local cooperation for the Firemens Carnival June 19 20 and 21. Traffic and one way streets will be affected Friday evening at 7 p m. Ovid Town Board issues junkyard permit and notices

At the June 4 meeting the Ovid Town Board issued a license to George Silke to operate an Auto Junkyard. Five local cemeteries were cleaned up by town crew with help from students. Red Cross Swimming program approved at Town Beach Sheldrake. Town finances showed on hand 16314.07 and expenditures 15323.36 for May. Licenses issued included resident hunting and fishing 1, resident fishing 65, non resident fishing 14, non resident 6 day fishing 1, dog licenses 1 and marriage licenses 3.

Mayor appoints fact finding committee in TRUMANSBURG

Mayor Newport appoints a five man fact finding committee to study sewer and water problems including expansion and rates. Members are Robert Berry Harold McGill Adam Bennett Daniel Swift and Jules Burgevin. The panel may expand to future tasks and possibly become a planning board. The board asks state officials to clean up a damaged retaining wall at the village entrance overshadowing tourism.

Ford Agency traces the Trumansburg Ford business through owners

Murphy Trumansburg Jack Slinger and George Blodgett bought Ford Motor Sales Company known as B and L Motors from Burel Lane and renamed it T Burg Motors. Trumansburg Ford Agency dates to 1908 with many owners since and Buckman sold to Lev Wheeler in 1946. Lane led until 1965 with David McMullen as general manager since.
