Former Ovid Resident Dies in Vietnam
Bruce Manning 23, formerly of Ovid and resident of Geneva, killed in action with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam May 29. Funeral arrangements by Castelluzzo Funeral Home. Manning, a Penn Yan native, played football at Ovid Central School and married Donna Mariangelo in 1962.

Ovid Supervisor Larry Wilkins announced a PERMANENT PERSONAL REGISTRATION drive for fall voting. The Registration Board will meet at the Municipal Building in Ovid on Wednesday June 14 from 12 noon to 9 p.m. South Seneca residents are urged to register locally to avoid Waterloo trips.

Ovid Federated Church consecrated in inaugural service
The Ovid Federated Church a joint Methodist Presbyterian house of worship was consecrated on Sunday in the area’s first new church in over a century. More than a hundred worshipers attended the 2 to 4 p.m. open house and the 7:30 p.m. consecration service led by Rev. Stanley E. Skinner who praised early planning and cooperation between the two congregations.

Interlaken prepares for the annual Firemen’s Carnival starting June 15 with Kiddies Nite and a new ride lineup. Tickets cover all ages and prizes include a RCA Color TV and a vacuum cleaner. The June meeting focused on the new information booth opened May 27. Finger Lakes Director Conrad Tunney will visit June 14 to talk to Senior Citizens who run the booth this summer. Twenty one volunteers are signed up. An orientation tour of the fourteen Finger Lakes counties runs June 21–22 from Geneva to Corning with 30 stops to exchange literature.
