Mrs Heinrich Bratherich nee Katharina Walter of Cherry Spring celebrated her 93rd birthday on December 30 1938. Born December 30 1845 in New Braunfels she is among Gillespie Countys oldest living mothers and a pioneer who helped found the county.

The Gillespie County Commissioners Court hears guidance from G Y Lee on electing the county Conservation Advisory Committee under the State Soil Conservation Act. Governor O Daniel calls a district election May 15 in this and 50 counties. Gillespie delegates named at the Fredericksburg courthouse at 1 30 p m. A majority of landowners per precinct must attend for selection.

House Approves Gas Tax Refund To Counties
The Texas House approved a bill to return the surplus from one cent of the state gasoline tax to counties for road debt repayment or construction of additional lateral roads. Over 25 years the fund totals about 151 million dollars, sparking controversy with bondholders. The sponsoring reps Tarwater and Petsch led a compromise to aid thrifty counties.

The Fredericksburg Independent School district board elected new officers for the coming term including J. H Anderson and Margaret Beville among others at a May 4 meeting. S. H.
