Moody Withdraws From Governor Race In Texas

In Austin the Texas Democratic executive committee heard Gov. Dan Moody urge removing his name from the July 26 primary ballot to avoid muddled waters and Fergusonism. James E. Ferguson pressed Moody to run, Moody refused, and the committee voted to remove Moody’s name. Moody signaled he may campaign and challenge Ferguson and Mayfield from the sidelines. R. S. Sterling was not Moody’s candidate. Love, Davidson or others could earn support. Several other candidates had withdrawals granted or upheld by the committee as the primary field narrowed.
