Texas Voters Aloof As Primary Campaign Lags
Dem primary apathy runs through Texas as reports show light crowds at events and little opinion shift in the U S Senate race. Coke Stevenson and Lyndon Johnson appear headed for a runoff, while George Peddy shows no growth. Governor Jester campaigns on record and promises prison reform and aid to the aged and disabled. A Weatherford shooting of Eugene Miller haunts politics with uncertain motives, police noting left wing ties but finding no clear political motive.
