Soil erosion and the Agricultural Conservation Program impact
Mr. Howard T. Kingsbery, Texas PMA chair, warns topsoil loss erodes future crops. An inch on 5 million acres would curb Mississippi River sediment. half a million acres destroyed yearly means less corn, wheat, cotton, potatoes, beef, milk, and eggs. Terracing reduces erosion keeping water on land and preventing washouts. AAA offers terrace construction assistance with rates per 100 linear feet.
