Funeral services for Mrs Alma Merfels and infant held near Helotes

Funeral services for Mrs Alma Merfels 29 and an infant child who died in a San Antonio hospital were conducted at the family residence near Helotes Braun and Hoffman roads with Rev. Paul Hein of Grace Lutheran Church presiding. Survivors include husband Raymond Merfels of Helotes daughter Elvira foster parents Theo and Crenwelze, grandmother Mrs Carolina Ruempel, brother Emil Scheffler, and step siblings Arthur Wegel and Mrs Irene Rossman. Local attendees listed: Mrs Chas Henke, Max Henke, Mrs Frank Schaper, Mrs Otto Kolmeier, Mr and Mrs Hugo Kallenberg, Mr and Mrs Hy Cordes and daughter Elizabeth, and Mrs Chester Cordes.

United Charities Formed in Gillespie County

A county wide charity group the Associated Charities of Gillespie County was formed at the courthouse with representatives from churches Lions club American Legion and other groups. Alfred Neffendorf elected president and a 150 members enrolled with plans to expand to several thousand through county canvassing.

Death of Miss Aurora Kneese at Sixteen

Miss Aurora Lillie Kneese died December 10 at 1 40 PM after long illness stemming from pleurisy first contracted in 1925. Born January 13, 1914 at Harper Texas she lived with parents Ernst and (Mrs Kneese) and four sisters. Funeral held Thursday at 2 PM at the M E Church conducted by Rev Brannies and Rev Gammenthaler. She leaves parents sisters a grandmother and many relatives.

Mrs. Olga Reugner Turner Dies at 37 in Mason County

Funeral services for Mrs. Olga L Turner known as Olga Reugner were held at Bethel Church Saturday November 29 after her death on Friday November 28 at Brady sanitarium. She leaves her husband, son Nath 16, a daughter who died young, eight sisters, and one brother John Reugner. Interment followed in Bethel Cemetery under Rev. C. H. Garrett of Mason.

Fletcher Players Tent Show Set For Three Night Local Run

Fredericksburg Lions Club held a busy luncheon at Hotel Nimitz with Vice-President R G Striegler presiding. Harry Schwarz named new member entertained with piano accompaniment and group singing. Zimmermann Rites Held for Fredericksburg Pioneer

Otto Zimmermann died after a lingering illness at Fredericksburg on Monday December 8 aged 71 years 8 months. Funeral services were held Tuesday December 9 by Father Fellmann with interment in City Cemetery. He was born April 8, 1859 in Fredericksburg, moved to San Antonio at age six, returned in 1907, and married Lina Hahn. Survived by widow and four children Emilie Davis Max Annie and George Zimmermann.

Community Christmas Tree Celebrated in Fredericksburg

The Christmas Cheer Committee plans a Sunday December 21 program with school children church and city choirs to inaugurate an annual Fredericksburg Christmas celebrations. A large tree will be erected in courthouse park lit at twilight and kept for the season funded by donations from the Chamber of Commerce Lions Public School Auxiliary St Marys Auxiliary and Central Power & Light Co.

Santa Visits Fredericksburg Draws Large Crowd

Santa Claus visited Fredericksburg on Saturday December 6 by invitation of the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce and hosted about two thousand two hundred children and adults. Gift packages included a chocolate bar cookies and an ice cream cone donated by local businesses Fredericksburg Cooperative Stein's Ice Factory Fehr Baking Company Stucke's Bakery. Santa arrived around 10 A M in a decorated American-Austin car and then visited hospitals and others unable to attend the Courthouse gathering.

88th Birthday Celebration for Mr August Hoffman

Mr August Hoffman celebrated his 88th birthday at his son Herman's Cain City home. Attending were all his children Adolf Hoffmann Brownwood Otto Hoffmann San Antonio Mrs Emma Bohnert Comfort William Emil Hoffmann Fredericksburg Hermann Cain City and their families along with neighbors. Grapetown Eintracht provided songs and a fine birthday dinner was served.
