Health Work Progressing Well by Gilmer County Nurse
Miss Celia Moore the itinerant health nurse placed by the State Health Department is advancing health measures in Gillespie County schools for a month. She led a Health Institute with hand washing and hot lunch demonstrations for about forty teachers and trustees from twelve schools. She also inspected infants and preschoolers and visited Morris Ranch School, examining sixty three children and guiding teachers parents and P T A members. Many children were underweight and had dental and health issues. milk at recess and milk with meals are suggested for undernourished pupils.

On Thanksgiving Day Mrs M Gerhard marked her 70th birthday with about 25 guests including children grandchildren and friends. A fine turkey dinner followed the congratulations.

Llano Rancher Shot and Killed in Cherokee
Llano Texas December 4 Don Gray 48 rancher was shot and killed in Cherokee. His nephew by marriage Pat Chestnut surrendered to officers after the killing. Chestnut later claimed self defense as Gray pursued him in a yard. Gray left Llano earlier that day for Cherokee. Chestnut a Cherokee garage operator and Gray were longtime local families. Two sons survive C F and Gordon Gray of Llano County.

Trapping Season Opens December First in Texas
Open season for fur bearing animals runs December 1 through January. Trappers may take pelts and sell them ten days after opening. A trapping license is required for all trappers and fur dealers. Local licenses available from County Clerk Albert E. Klett and Game Warden Adolph Heep in Fredericksburg. State licensed fur buyers pay 2.25 dollars for a license and may ship only within Texas. regular dealers may ship pelts out of state.

Road Commission Lets Contracts In November Session
The state highway commission opened bids totaling about 2 326 000 for road work including 234 miles of grading and structures 42.7 miles of paving and four bridges. Gov. Ray Click Found Guilty of Murder in Llano Trial
Ray Click, 32, a Llano cedar dealer, was found guilty of murdering C. W. Walker on Sept 11 in Llano. He received a life sentence after a seven hour trial with over 30 witnesses. Click showed no emotion as the verdict was read and his appeal was noted by his attorney.
