Illinois waives written test for safe drivers on renewal

Springfield Illinois Secretary of State James Edgar announced that effective July 1 drivers with clean driving records will be exempt from the written exam when renewing licenses. About 45.6 percent of motorists meet the safe history criteria, reducing renewal wait times and easing facility load.
