In Trenton an explosion under a leg of a four story tenement injured many Italians during a card game. The blast tore a five foot hole and caused a lamp to topple and a fire to break out, later extinguished after considerable damage. Seventeen families lived there and about 100 people poured into the street.
Fred Jackman and Mrs Jackman, tied to a famed wife trade case, were arrested in Taylorville Illinois after the attorney who drew the case was detained. The pair await trial as officers completed preliminary proceedings and charged them with related counts.
