Sunday Closing Violations Lead to Munsebrock Sentence
Judge Caldwell overruled a new trial motion for Henry Munsebrock the saloon keeper convicted of violating the Sunday closing law and ordered ten days in the work house plus a $50 fine and costs. The mayor ordered strict enforcement as saloons opened on the second Sunday. A related hearing was set for Tuesday after a suspension request. The saloonkeepers’ association vowed to close all saloons tomorrow and review Sunday prohibitions.
