An unruly meeting at Zion church escalates during a public seating dispute. A colored officer removes George Williams after threats and a mob surge, with razor brandishing and crowd chaos. Mrs Halford dies later from consumption worsened by the turmoil. funeral planned in Indianapolis with services at Foundry Methodist.
Trouble erupted at Omana stockyards as railroads accuse shippers of defrauding local rates by killing western stock and re shipping. Western Joint Freight association investigates with Meagrey. similar probes planned at Kansas City Salt Lake Denver Cheyenne Sioux City and Minneapolis. Eight cars from the West bound for Chicago remain held as a test case.
In Decatur, Lafayette, and Bedford, party tickets were set as Democrats nominate mayors, clerks, treasurers, and council members under the Australian primary system. In Decatur W. B. Reed is mayor and other incumbents were named. Lafayette and Bedford also issued tickets with several renominations. Frank Mayo of Indianapolis sued Lake Erie and Western for 2000 dollars after being removed from a train for not having a ticket. The jury deliberated about twenty hours and awarded Mayo six hundred dollars. The defense faced forty eight interrogatories during the trial in Muncie Indiana.
In Morris County Pennsylvania on April 18 fifty two deputy sheriffs with Winchester rifles guard More woods works as strikers drum through the night. In Uniontown shooters threaten and a water tank at Kyle works is blown by dynamite. Sheriff McCormick dispatches more deputies and warns of calling the governor if peace cannot be kept.
General Master Workman T V Powderly of the Knights of Labor criticizes the state arbitration board in the official journal. He cites Rochester clothing factory lockouts and the board’s haste, calling members malicious and unjust. He warns that no peace will come while workers lack equal treatment under the law.
In Pants Texas on April 18 seven men named Ross Riley Jeff Brown Douglass Brown Dodge Barnett Pars Johnson Lake Andy and Price Johnson are to be executed Monday at Ocmulgee the Creek nation capital. They were convicted of murdering Robert Reed and Riley Walls in the Creek nation on October 2 1889 after trial last week.

Rogers at 162 East Lewis Street and Addie Gaffney of 3895 South Calhoun Street, with other losses across Fort Wayne including Christina Yerks, Margaret Koch, Michael Fischer, and Henrich Oetting. From the Snooks Herr wedding at Lindon Arlington near Louisville arsenical poisoning appears likely after guests including Mr. B Frank Guthrie die or fall ill. Dispatch from Simla reports General Lockhart’s forces routing Manipuris after days of harassment around the British camp in Ansam. The engagement left 150 Manipuri dead with many wounded, one Englishman killed and four wounded. Nearby villages burned as relief troops advanced.
A St Louis broker Page McPherson disappeared amid allegations of theft from the Mining Exchange and customer margins. He allegedly stole bonds and cash, hypothecated stock, overdrew his firm account by about 10 000 dollars, and drew 1500 dollars on McCormick Co which was protested. His liabilities exceed 40000 dollars.
M E Von Schoening touring for a New York music firm met Miss Abbie Kaiser of Cleveland at the Russell House. Kaiser, the daughter of a Cleveland music dealer, came to reclaim letters she had written. As the discussion continued she drew a revolver in the afternoon.
A looming general strike of about 200000 coal miners and laborers is planned for May 1 to demand an eight hour day. Backed by the American Federation of Labor with a 1,000,000 member base, the action could disrupt coal supply nationwide and affect railroads and factories. In Iowa Orrumwa reports indicate 10000 miners may join, risking loss of 4,000,000 tons annual output.
Judge Joseph Brackenridge, one of Allen county’s oldest bar members, lies critically ill at his West Wayne street home with a stomach ailment defying doctors. His daughter Mrs. Osrey and son William, from Omaha, Nebraska, were summoned to be by his bedside. Dr. Swerin gen attends him. he has served on the Allen county bench and as solicitor for the Pennsylvania road since its construction.
In Morewood and nearby towns, sheriffs with large deputy forces prepare to evict tenants this afternoon. Reports say armed strikers may confront authorities at Trotter and Liesinring while socialist agitators plan mass meetings across the district.

The school will offer departments in bookkeeping, arithmetic, penmanship, law, business correspondence, stenography, and an actual business department, with a teacher corps and a chain linking Saginaw to Birmingham. Work to fit the rooms will start after the Electric club vacates.
W O Sadler drove a Texas pony on West Wayne street when it bolted on the way to Harrison street. The sleigh overturned, throwing Mr Sadler and his son W C Sadler to the pavement. Mr Sadler suffered a severe shock and a wound above the eye. the boy had minor bruises. they were treated at Dr Wheelock and Dr McCaskey offices. Mr Sadler, a district agent of the Indians Tract and Mission society, will remain home for several days. The tale ends with a note on the reliability of Texas varmints.
Articles of incorporation filed with the secretary of state at Indianapolis establish Wayne Knitting Mills, a new factory to be located locally. Officers include President H. O. Paul, Vice President Chas Bush, Treasurer Wm H. Dreier, Secretary and Manager T. F. Thieme, with stockholders William Bohn and G O Thieme. Capital is $30,000 all stock subscribed. Products will be fine hosiery and underwear, matching European grades. Operations expected before next September with about fifty employees.
Peter Rudolph Pickel of Allen County, long known for poems in Toe Senrinen, now in New York, has penned another tale The Family Help. Syndicate Publishing paid him $2000 for the story No Cross No Crown, cementing his rising literary status.
In Mixon Tennessee an outbreak of spotted fever has killed over thirty people in two days with no recoveries. The stricken town Newbern and Gates have quarantined as residents flee. An errata note reports later that seven condemned men and one thief escaped from Weewakee court house guards after pardons.
Mrs Dr George Murphy of Leo county commits frenzied crime in her home killing her five year old daughter with a 32 caliber revolver. Neighbors and sheriff say she has suffered years of insanity and is to be sent to an asylum for confinement.
An invitation announces the marriage of Miss Jennie Hays daughter of Rev and Mrs R M Hays to Charles Henderson. The ceremony will be held Thursday April 23 at the bride's home 316 West Washington street. Jennie is active in Christian Endeavor at Second Presbyterian church and is well regarded. Henderson is a clerk in the Pittsburg Chops painting department.
Coroner summoned to the home of O A Glessner at 4 20 PM reports Miss Kate Glessner died of heart disease. She had a grippe recently but appeared healthy before the illness of unconscious death. The Berlin Pa native arrived from Berlin March 25 to live with her brother.
Al Bannister, longtime cashier in the Pennsylvania freight office, died in Kalamazoo Mich from brain congestion after health decline. He leaves a widow with no children. He was a member of Sol D Baylees lodge F and A M and Fort Wayne Chapter No 19 R A M which sent a delegate escort for the remains. Mr A D Heintzelman wed Thursday at 4 pm to Mrs George Schwalm daughter of a prominent Aboit township farmer. The ceremony was by Rev D Markley Fort Wayne with relatives present. A sumptuous supper followed with gifts from friends and family.
