August Finke, an insane prisoner at Allen county jail, ferociously attacked turnkey Lindsey with an iron bar, breaking bones and crushing a hand. Lindsey and others restrained him. Isaac Lauferty a Fort Wayne merchant and banker died at 75 West Berry street after nearly three years of illness. Born August 2 1820 in a Franco German border region to French parents he came to the United States in 1839 and moved to Fort Wayne in 1844. He helped establish Lanferty’s bank in 1871 retiring in 1889 and leaves four children. Funeral is Wednesday at 3 p m with Rabbi A Guttmacher officiating.

These payments liquidate the last back pay claims of Democrats whose offices were disputed by Republicans.
