Terrorize Villagers in Jackson Brothers Street Battle
In Crawrornsville Indiana on April 1 the Jackson brothers Jim Jos and Jake rode into New Road and threatened residents firing at will. Marshal McGriffin and deputies fought them but were routed as Joe Wright a merchant was beaten. A mob of forty attempted to hang the trio but the brothers escaped after a two mile chase. The village suffered few injuries while the outlaws remained unharmed. Wright wounds might be fatal prompting the trio to flee the country.

In Coufax Washington a report from Big Bend County stockmen shows 25 percent of 300 head of horses died from exposure and starvation during the region's severe winter.
