The Forest Park Chamber of Commerce unanimously endorsed the District 91 referendum to raise the education fund 45 cents per 100 dollars of assessed valuation. Supt. Arthur Jones outlined funding pressures from reduced state aid and tax base limits, and polling places and hours for the November 20 vote were announced.
Unofficial results from Cook County Clerk show state Rep. Jack Williams Democrat winning re election in the 5th District by a slim margin over Republican Robert Guerine. Discrepancies due to missing decimals in four precincts skewed early totals. Williams blamed Proviso Democratic Organization for lack of support and described party members voting for Guerine. Guerine did not concede as absentee ballots were unsettled.
