The Forest Park District 91 school board adopted the 1975 76 budget with total expenditures at 1 884 407 a 50 000 reduction from last year. Anticipated tax revenue stands at 1 585 857 while education fund spending totals 1 296 077 reflecting cuts in aides and professional development.
Nine representatives from the Armed Forces Reserve center asked Forest Park School Board to arrange transportation for their children to Forest Park schools. Superintendent Arthur Jones set August 21 to meet with the group about transporting 13 elementary students from the west Roosevelt center amid crossing safety concerns near the center and a post office. A board member suggested crossing guards instead of busing, and debate touched on precedent and comparisons to Proviso East busing. The meeting also covered district 91 joining a Cook County educational model project to attract federal funds for community education.
Police assigned a two man detail to the 400 block area including The Ending and bars on west Madison street after residents complained of disturbances. Since Aug 3 officers made 15 arrests for disorderly conduct and public intoxication while issuing about 150 warnings, with 275 parking tickets written and few arrests resulting from warnings.
Forest Park Library board and village trustees plan a meeting this week to resolve differences in the proposed 1975-76 budget after a $9,000 cut to the library's appropriations. Grace Wiesner resigns. Grace Mader or Mary Ellen Hornax eyed as replacements. Triton adult education courses planned in fall with small fees.
