St Bernardines Welcomes 680 Pupils and New Faculty

Henry Meyer Former Shoe Merchant Dies in Wisconsin
Henry John Meyer, former shoe merchant at Forest Park, died August 25 at Brown's Lake Wisconsin. He was husband of Elfriede nee Cutz and father of the late Henry William Meyer with siblings William Rudolph and Henriette of Pega Connecticut and the late Dinetta. Private services were held at Emblem cemetery.

Kiwanis Peanut Sale to Run Sept 22 24
The Kiwanis club launches its 10th annual Kid's Day Peanut Sale starting September 22 at 6 p.m. and running until noon on September 24 in Forest Park. Ralph Behn, chairman, says funds stay local to aid handicapped and underprivileged youths and character-building projects. About 8,000 volunteers aim to raise a quarter of a million dollars. Mayor William Meyer received a commendation from Gov. William Stratton for Forest Park's 1959 safety record. Forest Park was among 74 Illinois cities with no traffic fatalities last year. Stratton praised municipalities for outstanding safety and noted Illinois achieved a fourth consecutive year of death reduction.
