A truck driver identified as John Sullivan, 8 Louie, died after driving around a stopped vehicle and being struck by a fast Chicago Aurora Elgin train at the Wolf Road grade crossing near Elmhurst on the CA&E line. Partridge Store Fire Destroys Bicycle Shop After Morning Blaze
Early Sunday a fire at 7682 Madison Street destroyed Leslie Partridge’s bicycle shop, with an explosion at discovery around 8 a.m. The stock, mainly bicycles and sporting goods, was ruined and the building heavily damaged. Loss estimated at $1,000 with $1,600 insurance. neighboring properties sustained water and smoke damage. Two other south town fires earlier in the week involved a chimney blaze at 625 Ferdinand Avenue and a dry goods store fire on Beloit Avenue, both limited in damage.
