Ernest M Schwenke of 604 Beloit avenue died Thursday November 15 1928 after a six month illness. Born in Chicago January 22 1877 he moved to Forest Park eighteen years ago. He married Emma Kling Leil in Chicago and they had a son Leonard. Funeral services were held at his home Monday November 19 at 3 p m Rev William Buch of St Peters Lutheran Church officiated. Burial was at Concordia.
Miss Wilhemina Godehart aged 50 died Saturday November 17 1928 at 1407 Elgin Avenue where she made her home. Born in Germany November 17 1878 she lived there until five years ago when she came to America and resided in Iowa for two years before moving to Forest Park three years ago. She had no immediate relatives in this country but leaves one brother and two sisters in Germany. She returned to Germany on a visit after coming to Forest Park. An active member of the Platidentche Guikte, organization members arranged her funeral held Tuesday with burial at Forest Home.
Rev. W. A. Burzlaff has accepted the pastorate at St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran church replacing Rev. A. G. Werninger. His first sermon will be on Thanksgiving Day at 10 am in German. The following Sunday will feature both German and English services with English from 11 am to noon.

The store occupies 25 by 140 feet with a rear balcony, employs D. H. Hoff as local manager, and follows three Chicago area openings including Evanston and Roosevelt Road.
Mauilison Tire and Battery at 7238 Madison street was entered by burglars during Wednesday night. Several hundred dollars in merchandise stolen including a $385 Kolater radio set and three smaller sets. Entry gained through the rear, door frame damaged, and equipment spread through the shop. a prior break occurred two or three months ago targeting the front window and door.

Alfred F. Belx of 121 Elgin Avenue launches a new drug store in the Gowdy hotel at Pleasant Street and Wisconsin Avenue Oak Park. A young registered pharmacist, he recently graduated from the Chicago College of Panament and previously worked at Smucker Fort Drug Store on Wisconsin Avenue. He has long resided in the area, moving with his family from Austin.
Work to separate the grades of Roosevelt Road and clear the right of way for Rapid Transit Lines signals a step in Westchester development. Upon completion, this will open the way for further elevation extensions through Westchester Road.
A Forest Park Woman's Club event at the Municipal Building on Friday evening November 16 marked the close of Children's Book Week and highlighted the Forest Park Free Public Library. Performances by Miss Henrietta Kracalis Proviso Faculty quartet and Miss Norma Rose complemented talks on the Constitution and library service, with officials and residents praising the library, its staff, and the new children's room and resources.
Mr and Mrs C Kartum recently moved from Chicago and bought the Martin Ewinger bakery at 7330 Madison Street. The couple plans to run the shop with Mrs Kartum and daughter Helen assisting, after their first week in business. Ewinger, retiring after six years, will focus on real estate and near term Florida trip. Ewinger’s illness delays plans.
Lande Bros. celebrate one year since moving to their new Forest Park store at Madison street and Circle avenue. They began in Forest Park over ten years ago after buying Wollros dry goods at 7343 45 Madison. M. B. Lande has led the Forest Park shop since arrival, with his brother running the Maywood outlet bought years earlier. The new store is praised as attractive and has drawn strong patronage in the first year.
The Odd Krafts Studio, incorporated at 533 Beloit Avenue Forest Park, opens a Madison Street retail salesroom in the lunch room building next to Collis Confectionery. They make handmade jewelry including rings bracelets and brooches. Frank Arndt heads the company with Rolland Rosa Droste William Arndt and Mrs Frank Arndt among others. The Madison Street store will be headed by Mrs Frank Arndt and opens today.
Forest Park Kiwanis members plan a possum feed at the next meeting. E L Buechler is custodian of the meat and his butchers work on dressing methods. Bill Albright studies best serving methods as Commissioner Kurt Berliner who visited Arkansas arranged for a cargo of possums arriving yesterday. Attendance is expected at near 100 percent for the event.
Commissionee James L. Brannon Max Schultz and Art Gaden left Forest Park around 11 o'clock Monday night for a southern automobile trip and hunting expedition. They planned to travel as far south as Jacksonville Florida stopping in Tennessee Kentucky and Atlanta Georgia where Brannon's family lives. They aimed to see many points of interest and hunt possum and perhaps foxes along the route.
Mrs. Cook received honorable mention in the Ask Me An Other contest. Seventh and eighth graders from Grant School earned awards for their essays on My Favorite Book, including Gerhardt Kruer in seventh grade and Firaucis Johong in eighth grade.
The Cook county branch of The King's Daughters and Sons held its annual convention at First Presbyterian Church Ferdinand and Lexington Street in an all day session on Thursday November 72. Sixty delegates attended the business session with many at both morning and afternoon programs and the noon luncheon. County President Miss Olivia Leonard, Vice President and Treasurer Mrs Helen Boden and Miss A E Turnquist presided over the meeting. Mayor George Gold gave an address of welcome, Mrs Florence Kramp sang, and a memorial service was held. A program featured Miss Lulu B Evans on work among lepers in the United States and Miss Marion Fairman spoke about Peabody Hospital Chicago. The organization contributes to leprosy work and training at the hospital. Incidental music by a quartet accompanied events. The group is a Christian, undenomination body allied with First Presbyterian Church and led by Pastor Stan.
Forest Park Kiwanis hosted Forest Lions Club members with a Youth talk by a leader, plus musical numbers and humor by James Metay. The session covered Madison street pavement progress, and upcoming plans include a December 3 officer election with a contested board slate.
The Harlem Mannerchor hosts a Schubert centennial concert on November 2, 1928 at 7 30 PM in the Masonic Temple Forest Park 750 Madison Street. The program includes Schubert works performed with the Almi Damerisher assisting and marks the chorus thirty eighth anniversary.
The Community Chest drive, halted for two weeks, will resume immediately with renewed canvassing. Precinct captains approved letters to organizations urging cooperation to recruit more workers. By midweek pledges reached 3154.90, with volunteers needed to finish remaining blocks and precinct totals.
