Kiwanis Club and ladies attended Nobody’s Girls at the Majestic theater in Chicago last Tuesday. The party, with 81 members and guests, extended into late hours at the Bismarck hotel with dancing. Twenty five couples signed to attend the Installation Meeting in Burlington, Wisconsin.
Mr and Mrs Otto Schaeffer parked their touring car on Madison Street Thanksgiving eve while attending a Schubert concert in the Masonic Temple. The next morning police located a Moon touring car at 336 North Leavitt Street with a coverage showing Wilkeliui as owner. an employee from Wilhelm's Tire And Battery recovered the car.
Christian Strippel died Tuesday afternoon November 27 after a prolonged illness. Born in Germany he was about 88 years old and had lived in Forest Park seven years. Survived by daughter Mrs Gertrude Measom and a great grandchild. Funeral services were held at the home on Thanksgiving Day with Rev. Ira L. Livingston of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn cemetery.
Chief Fred W. Licht led prohibition officers to a rear bar on 837 Lathrop Avenue discovering a large still with two steam wind boilers and ash spreading across adjacent gardens. No arrests were made as premises were empty. Bomb explosion had damaged Waldheim barn nearby, blamed on rival operators fearing competition.
Fifty scouts depart Friday at noon for the Aurora annual conference. Joe Bensler and Oliver Brown will lead Troops into activities on stunts and handicraft, with James West and TH. Steven arranging entertainments. Special show tickets available at Scout headquarters. Winter camp limited to thirty five. inspection tours planned at Camp Wildersess to prep for December 26 start.
Proviso Township residents received about fifty Thanksgiving Day baskets distributed by Proviso High School students. Baskets were left at homes in Forest Park and the Bach basket addressed to a family of six.
Fifteen Madison street property owners met in Forest Park State pavings to discuss improving Madison street and promoting the village. A committee was formed by TR WL Hann to raise funds and coordinate efforts with Albert C. Russ as chair. Members include AM. Laude and Henry C. Rieck to support a mercantile establishment relocation and public advertising to counter unfavorable coverage.
The Woman's Club of Forest Park under Mrs Helen Troike plans two December plays at the Forest Park club house Hanagh avenue and Adams street. The first, Pike and Patience, features Tex Trene McEwan Rexir Mrs Alin ie Lack and others. The second, Good Medicine, stars Dr Graves Natalie McEwan Evhiel Smith and more. Florence Hirsch will perform violin selections between acts. Tickets 50 cents from club members or Burkart’s store 741 Madison Street. Proceeds fund the philanthropy fund with a home-made candy sale by daughters of members on December 8.
