Honor VA Volunteers National Hospital Week Celebration
The VA Hospital Hines observes National Hospital Week May 8 14 and marks the 20th anniversary of VA Voluntary Service with an Annual Recognition Ceremony on May 12. Twenty three women and one man receive 20 year Service Citations for 1946 1966. Emblem and Certificate awards recognize hours of volunteer service across multiple groups and individuals including Sam Slotky Erna Brandt Helen Levy Lillian Husserl Gladys McEvoy Tom Powers Frieda Hinz Rosie Rodenbastel Tena Dryshout Dorothy Andrews Rickle Post among 51 98 34 recipients at various hours levels.

Forest Park launches its Clean Up Fix Up Paint Up drive with Fire Chief Dal Marousek Building Inspector William McKenzie and Chamber of Commerce President Ed Trage Jr coordinating. Residents are asked to place discarded materials in alleys or terraces for weekly village pickup and use Clean Up receptacles placed around the village for disposal during May.
