Little League Opens 15th Year Sunday

The Forest Park Little League begins its 15th season with a 2 PM doubleheader at the park amid a parade and opening ceremonies led by local color guards. Teams include Roy Mohr Braves, North America Savings Phillies, Lions Club Cubs, Calcagno Food Mart White Sox, plus two Junior league squads named Orioles and Dollyers.

Erhardt Promoted by Illinois Bell to Chicago Facilities Post

Andrew R. Erhardt of 628 Circle is promoted by Illinois Bell to facilities supervisor in the Suburban Area Traffic Department in Chicago. The Oak Park native has five decades with the company since starting as a switchboard installer in Chicago and Oak Park. He leads equipment feeds for dial offices and is active with the Forest Park Veterans of Foreign Wars. He and wife Carol have three sons Steve Dave and Scott. His father Andrew J. Erhardt retired from Illinois Bell in 1957 after 49 years.

Village council approves permits and repairs amid staffing notes

Lee Camera receives a scavenger license. Dennis Brouter is reappointed to the Fire Department after civil service exams, raising personnel to 17 with a full time inspector. Street repairs stall pending strike end. Agnes Dacin may reconsider resignation as Sanitarian. Zoning Board backs a 5 foot setback for 516 Desplaines apartments. 1214 Elgin 2-flat variation denied. James Gallagher reappointed to Zoning Board. Second installment of 18700 plus 756.00 engineering fees paid to H and W Electric for stop and go signs at Madison Crete and Roosevelt Circle. total contract 42219.00. Recreation Board member Art Schelne receives a commendation.

Suit Filed Against Forest Park Village Over $35,000 Damages

Antoinette Krumwiede through her attorney files suit against the village of Forest Park alleging injuries from a May 10 1965 fall on the public sidewalk at 435 Hannah. Village attorney Edward B O Shea briefed council that appearance and answer prepared and investigation will follow. O Shea also said he’s coordinating with Clarence Galloway owner of 439 Harlem regarding nuisance from tenants. In a separate action Evergreen Park grants Evergreen Sales Co a 46 month permit to operate a foreign car sales and repair agency at 7214 Madison despite prior ordinance violations, with related notes about other addresses.

Tinkerbelle Captain Speaks at Triton College

Captain Robert Maury of the 13 1/2 foot Tinkerbelle recounts his 78 day Atlantic voyage aboard Tinkerbelle at Triton College in Northlake on May 19 at 8 30 p.m. Maury is Plain Dealer copy editor and sailed from Fal mouth Mass to Falmouth England. Admission for students is free with ID. general tickets cost 1.00 and go on sale at the box office one hour before showtime.
