Joseph Ratner longtime Forest Park resident died February 10 at eighty eight after a long life in the junk business with a large family and devout Jewish ties. services were held and interment at Kovner cemetery.
State's Attorney Crowe and other officials promise to attend a grand dance at the temple. The club is preparing elaborately for the largest crowd ever, with Joya set to perform the music and draw attendees.
Forest Park Community council schedules a mass meeting in the municipal building Friday evening March 20 to hear out-of-town speakers on a community chest. A. L. Hall leads speaker arrangements with likely guests from Elgin and Aurora. Mayor Gold may brief on police arm system and Hartford lighting plans for Roosevelt Road widening.
The Leake Wallabesque featured a dinner with Fred H. Doelner as a speaker and reports from delegates to conventions. Representatives of about nine Italian organizations in Forest Park and River Ores met Wednesday evening in the office of Nic Guardalahene at 7421 Madison Street and formed a central committee for united action on racial and political affairs and other matters affecting them as citizens. The committee includes Nic Guardalabene, Thomas GT Hannah, August Gelardi and others, with delegates from the various organizations.
A chaotic pursuit across Westchester and Desplaines led officers from Oak Park and Lombard to foil a moving suspect on an express train. The man, tied to assault and robbery charges, was captured after a gun and cartridges were found on him. One officer was injured in the confrontation.
James Mullen suffered severe injuries from an auto crash at Washington and Thatcher Friday. He was taken to Oak Park hospital where tree stitches were placed in his head. His father and another man in the car escaped injury. The collision involved a car driven by E. J. Noffs of Bellwind.
The St Mark’s church league squad fell short against St John A A Kiegere with the Harveth and Faith teams also posting wins. Englewood’s St Job A A Harveth leads in the flag race after twice beating Creigt Church Crescents Teague champions. In other notes, the Metropolitan Bypinens colleges’ lightweight clash saw the Vasket silping outpace the Hangers 31 to 14. Miss Louise Rieck remains hospitalized in Oak Park since February 23 with a severe illness. she underwent an operation earlier this week.
