Kimon Friar a Proviso Township High School junior and son of Mr and Mrs James Friar Forest Park won first prize in the 928 poster contest sponsored by the Union League Club of Chicago. The prize includes a bronze medal and a $40 Art Institute scholarship.

Forest Park Chamber Banquet Debut By Snowstorm Crowd

Seventy five men attended the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce annual banquet held in a Masonic temple. Bill Albright served a fine dinner, H W R Beecher led the speaker committee, and Chief Licht organized abundant entertainment. The Chicago Policemen's quartet sang with spirited encores despite a snowbound delay. Advertising manager Joh N Pratt planned to speak but sent two assistants due to weather. The Andrews Building in Elgin and Madison nears completion with 38 apartments, 11 rented, offices onsite, and plans for a future Harlem and Madison site.

Kiwanis Hears Proviso Orator and Promises Aid

Proviso student Lee Miller spoke at the Kiwanis club meeting. He discussed Washington and Hamilton, while William F. Grosser recounted a Missouri to Oklahoma trip and urged winter auto trips to the South. Rudolf Burkart reported 311 dollars raised for the YMCA quota in Forest Park. A Kiwanis quartet debuted with strong potential. The club will not fund a floating drive but will help needy Forest Park students who deserve education. Next Thursday the LaGrange Singing Minstrels will perform.
