The Otto Reich Monument company begins tearing down the historic road house at Harrison and Desplaines to erect a 135 by 50 foot brick steel and glass monument display building on a large 100 by 79 foot lot. The one story structure will host a showroom with an overhead crane and Italian marble lighting shields. The project, at 740 Desplaines avenue, aims to house a large US monument display, with future expansion possible.
At the township election on April 3 a highway commissioner a poundmaster and two constables will be elected. T. J. Lynch 5 now highway commissioner Fred Schramm of Hillside is pound master. For constable Patrick Curran has resigned Benny Idelsott did not qualify Herman Berndt has announced candidacy. The Nonpartisan party has not announced its caucus date.
Kimon Friar a Proviso Township High School junior and son of Mr and Mrs James Friar Forest Park won first prize in the 928 poster contest sponsored by the Union League Club of Chicago. The prize includes a bronze medal and a $40 Art Institute scholarship.
Seventy five men attended the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce annual banquet held in a Masonic temple. Bill Albright served a fine dinner, H W R Beecher led the speaker committee, and Chief Licht organized abundant entertainment. The Chicago Policemen's quartet sang with spirited encores despite a snowbound delay. Advertising manager Joh N Pratt planned to speak but sent two assistants due to weather. The Andrews Building in Elgin and Madison nears completion with 38 apartments, 11 rented, offices onsite, and plans for a future Harlem and Madison site.
Delegates from here joined the Izaak Walton League state convention at Aurora this week despite heavy snow and misty roads. Attendees listed include Otta Kantner Doctor T J Warner A Hi Rige Fred Allen with organizers Toho Pilkington F J Meyers and Conrad.

The delay in Cook County tax work pushes Proviso township bills past March 7. Langguth plans to send bills after March 17 with fifteen days to pay. The review board will need two weeks to finish Pravisa township books before the county clerk computes tax rates and extensions delaying delivery to collectors.
Forest Park moves to block elevated railway fare rise from three rides for twenty five cents to ten cents. Resolution urges keeping fares, notes Forest Park will cooperate with Chicago and sends copy to Mayor Thompson. Building code changes pass. sheds removal ordered at Madison and Des Plaines. Deer sale bid accepted for $100. Public bids for official village paper discussed. Forest Park Review bids four cents an agate for ads and ten cents for display. Forest Park Review claims legal paper status.
Forest Park merchants announce another Dollar Day on Tuesday February 28 to promote Madison Street as the west suburban trading center. The event aims to draw large crowds with drawing bargains and wholesaler concessions, hoping to attract shoppers from nearby areas.
Henry C. Hass has filed a bankruptcy petition in Judge Wilkinson's court. Once a successful building contractor, he later moved into manufacturing, producing the Esy Kling garden furniture.
The Grant school addition project invites bids to be opened at the Garfield school board meeting on March S. Bids require a certified check for four percent. The plan includes eight rooms, an auditorium, and a central ground-floor entrance with a new wing conforming to existing standards. Facilities will include eleven shower baths in the basement.
