Jes Melrose Park delegation including Charles Wall John Carson Paul Brust and Mike Sorrillo discussed a revolving fund to aid Proviso students going to college and urged Kiwanis to join, but the chair referred the matter to a committee for further consideration.
The Chamber of Commerce will hold its March meeting next Friday morning at the Masonic temple. An interesting speaker will address athletic events and a buffet lunch. The Garrettors met last Friday and approved representatives for a Community Council mass meeting at the Municipal building March 29. Participants include BH, Hoon, Otto Reich, Charles F. Bartling, Paul R. Witt, and Charlen Koerber.
An open letter argues Forest Park has more stores and people but faces competition from Oak Park Maywood and Berwyn. It urges merchants to attract local customers, maintain low prices, keep stores attractive, and advertise consistently using effective, intelligent methods to boost business.

The Darmstadt council met briefly Monday night. Edward B. Darmstadt was reappointed to the Playground Committee for five years. Mrs. L. Nichols received a license to operate a restaurant on Madison block. A soft drink license transfer at 7203 Madison moved from George Conners to Ernest A. Milter and Glen Fry. Prison meals cost 19.95 dollars for February. Building permits issued totaling 54,900 dollars. Librarian Florence Barry asked aid to recover cleaned out books. council referred matter to the library board.
Forest Social club plans a big dance at Maagnic Temple this evening attracting a large crowd. A twenty four page program is issued to raise revenue showing officers named for 1928 and club founders, with Georges Rolfenstuhl and others on the entertainment committee.
Homer J Buckley of Chicago advertising circles will headline the Booster Dinner at the Masonic Temple next Tuesday at noon. Buckley, head of the Chicago Advertising Club, is noted for strong demand as a speaker and is praised by President Horman H Hann for agreeing to attend.
Robert Crowe, Cook County attorney and AML candidate for statewide election, addressed the Melrose Park Republican Club at President Ruet Berth’s home Wednesday evening. Speakers included State Senator Hartog and local leaders. Crowe defended his record while quotes from court and city events were cited.
John Hoellerich, former resident, bound over to the grand jury on a manslaughter charge after a car crash at Harlem and North avenues on February 20 left a 62 year old salesman dead. The driver, Hoellerich, did not stop, was arrested, and faces two counts with bonds set at 26000 and 1000. He previously lived on Deaplaines avenue and moved to Oak Park, with Forest Park residents aiding his bond.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Young of 152 Rockford Street announce the birth of a son, Donald Herbert, at Oak Park Hospital on March 1. The mother is Miss Mathild before marriage.
The contract for the new Elizabeth PO White addition to Grant School was let Monday night by the board of education to the Gay Market Company, 7280 Circle Avenue. The contract amount was $81,422. Work includes excavation and is to be ready for the opening of the school sessions on Labor Day, with four bids submitted and the highest bid at $1200.
The council reviewed a proposed addition to the Grant school to relieve crowding at the Garfield and Betsy Ross facilities. Contracts for heating wiring and furniture are pending with total costs estimated at 102 059 dollars. Architect Ernest Ashby attended as the board eyed permits and early pupil occupancy once completion occurs.
The Women of Monsciart Legion Chapter 446 sponsor a course of instruction on Tuesday March 13 guided by representatives from Moomheart. The program from 2:30 p m covers organization Junior League work and a review of laws with an initiation close as the feature of the evening. Refreshments will be served and invitations extended to Creero Glenlyn La Grange and Westero Star.
