Purely Personal notes of travels and visits in Wisconsin
A collection of brief items about local residents taking trips, visiting relatives, attending family events, and planning summer vacations. It lists Dr Hilyard Jenkins leaving for two weeks in northern Wisconsin, Vern Hammang visiting Grass Lake and Lake Geneva plans, the birth of a daughter to Mr and Mrs Thebes, and other short notices of travel, visits, and gatherings around Forest Park area. The piece includes a light aside joke at end about direct versus indirect taxation and a domestic exchange.
Lawyers as lawmakers overrepresented in Congress
AnExtract notes that lawyers, 43 a clons, are disproportionately present in legislatures and tend to shape lawmaking more by precedent than practical outcomes. The book Great American Issues by Hammond and Jenka argues that legal training biases legislation toward form and past authority, hindering constructive reform.
