Forest Park Plans Grand Fourth Celebration and Parade

Forest Park prepares a large two day Fourth of July event under American Legion supervision. Funds raised through house to house canvassing exceed 70 dollars with donations from residents, and volunteers expect a major public display including free attractions, fireworks, and a big parade starting 1:00 p.m. July 4th. The parade route travels from Elgin to Madison, Marengo, Randolph, Circle, Des Plaines, Dunlop, Harvard, and Beloit, ending at the celebration grounds. Captain William Jolson leads the program with multiple demonstrations of rent barrage and a daylight fireworks display scheduled across the holiday.

Forest Park wins right to open Thon Avenue access

A village case over opening Thon Avenue from railroad tracks to Thirrigan Street favored Forest Park. Roos company plans an appeal after Judge Hopkins ruled for the village. Also notes a membership drive for Forest Park Ladies Auxiliary from June 30 to July 0 to enlist mothers and sisters of service men.

Elaborate Wedding at St. John's Wednesday

A church wedding took place Wednesday evening June 20 at 8 at St John s Lutheran as Mia Lydia daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Daehmy Circle Avenue became the bride of Clarence Wehrman son of Mr and Mrs red M Wehrman Usk Park. The ceremony featured pink roses, attendants clad in pink georgette, a reception for 84 at the Community Club with pink and white decor and a luncheon. The newlyweds left for a short honeymoon then plan to live with the parents.

Invite Soldiers to Help Parade in Forest Park

The American Legion of Forest Park invites all ex-service men to join the parade on duty and welcome the new flag. It promises a chance to walk behind a patriotic band and recall old memories. Roosevelt Bridge Opens In Forest Park Ceremony

The Roosevelt Bridge over Des Plaines opened this week with a nine o’clock dedication by Proviso township officials led by Highway Commissioner J Lynch. Forest Park merchants and local leaders attended the ceremony, with champagne bottle breaking by Judge Murray’s daughter, speeches by state and county figures, and a celebratory picnic and entertainment.

Village Council Weekly Session Reports and Notices

The village council met Monday with Commissioner Pietsch absent. Minutes from a June 23 special meeting were approved. Permits granted for fireworks displays at Altenhelme, Tay Maatixen, and Hannah Madison corners. Invitations accepted to parade with American Legion. minor roadway and parkway improvements discussed. Local improvements board authorized payments totaling 502.08 and 78.06 plus 3,864.10 with interest, per court decree. A wedding occurred Sunday, June 28, Leopold Genterricher and Murengo Avenue resident, with a large turnout and formal bridal party.

War Organization in Annual Encampment

The Veterans of Foreign Wars at the United States Navy have closed their first annual encampment of the Department of Illinois at Rockford. Delegates transacted important business and were entertained by locals. officers like Danville’s Welltaane and Sterling’s Murleigh were elected to key posts. The Ladies Auxiliary aims to organize a state department for a next year convention. Delegates will head to the national convention in Detroit in September. A new post will be organized in Austin shortly.

Four unmanned bandits armed with revolvers opened fire in Forest Mark district, forcing cashier Steve Courrier to hand over the register contents.
