Narcotics Overdoses Send Two Forest Park Teens to Hospital

Two Forest Park youths were hospitalized after narcotic overdoses this past weekend. Robert John Spirk, 18, was found unconscious in a backyard and later recovered after heart stabilization and a 24 hour coma. He was sent to Cook County Mental Health Clinic. Frank Stettler, 20, of 636 Marengo, also overdosed and was treated at Oak Park Hospital with a stomach pump and discharged the next day. Police Chief Edwin Ziebell leads an intensified narcotics probe amid rising local addicts.

Orphan's Day Picnic Set for Lincoln Park

The 65th annual free outing for about 5 000 orphans and aged guests will be held August 20 in Lincoln Park. Lincoln Park sponsors seek transportation volunteers and one dollar donations to support food, rides, and toys, with activities including a three hour stage show and a snorkel truck ride from the Chicago Fire Dept. at 7340 Harrison Forest Park.

Village Council conducts routine meeting with bids and concerns

Village Council meeting Monday night covered routine business. Bids for a sewer project and squad cars were reviewed. The National Power Red Co. won a contract to clean 300 catch basins at 7.50 each. Commissioner's notes addressed insurance, tax allocations, street light glow, and dog complaints near Circle and Randolph. Mayor Witt praised the police for efficient work and arrests of gas station thieves.

Assessor Sends Personal Property Schedules for 1969

Forest Park Gas Station Hold Up Ends in Arrest

Mitchell McBryde, 26, of Chicago led five accomplices in a Go-Tane robbery at 949 Harlem Forest Park. Attendant Daniel Crossley, 16, was beaten with a screwdriver. $253 and the changer were stolen. McBryde caught after a chase. charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery.
