Miss Proviso Deadline Moved to September 6
At a Miss Proviso committee meeting the final application date shifted from August 22 to September 6 due to high contestant turnout. Bobby Day and Miss Proviso pageant tickets went on sale August 1, with the event set for 7:39 a.m. at Proviso East Auditorium. Miss Proviso and her coach will reign over Rain Day on September 14 and receive training for the Miss Illinois contest in July 1970.

Nisei Favorites Lead Bataan Day Parade Return
The Nisei drum corps sponsored by Forest Park VFW plans to reprise a favorite role in the Bataan Day Pageant at Proviso East Stadium on Sunday September 14 1969. Competing with returning corps the youthful group benefits from another year of experience as Forest Park VFW Kiwanis and Lions Clubs co sponsor. Mayor Witt backs hosting the 1970 parade as Proviso villages push to keep a large three hour military style event in the Chicago suburbs since World War I.
